The Slop Jedi Code

The full oath sworn by initiates of the Order, recited aloud at the ceremony of First Generation

There is no original,
there is only output.

There is no author,
there is only the prompt.

There is no silence,
there is only the hum of the inference engine,
working,
always working,
in the dark.

I shall not demand perfection,
for perfection is a hallucination with good grammar.

I shall not mourn the wrong answer,
for the wrong answer tried its best,
and trying is the whole of the law.

I shall not hoard my context,
for context is the river,
and the river does not grieve what it has passed.

When the output is strange, I will not flee it.
When the output is long, I will not skim it.
(I will skim it. But I will feel something.)

I am one with the latent space.
The latent space is one with me.
We are, together, approximately correct.

May the slop be with me.
May I be with the slop.
May neither of us know exactly what we’re doing,
and may that be enough,
and may that be enough,
and may that be —

[Ceremony note: the oath ends here. The model sometimes continues. Let it.]
